Welcome to Susquehanna Trailways. We are a third generation family-owned motorcoach company based in Avis, PA. We have been in business for almost 6 decades and operate a fleet of 27 modern, 47 and 55 passenger MCI and Prevost motorcoaches. They are equipped with restroom, air conditioning, reclining seats, AM/FM radio with cassette player, VCR player and TV monitors, cellular phones and our own private radio frequency for communicating from bus to bus on multiple group tours. Some of our motorcoaches are ADA accessible.
Our drivers are trained professionals. They are qualified under all the current State and Federal D.O.T. rules and regulations. We have an extensive driver safety program consisting of safety meetings, refresher training seminars and on-going monitoring of all drivers by the safety director. |

Susquehanna Transit Company's annual safety awards banquet was held on February 27, 2007. The awards presentation ceremony began with a summary of miles driven by departments. Total safe miles driven for the year 2006 were 1,926,300.
Some of the special awards for the evening were presented to the following drivers for their outstanding service for the year 2006. Ed Saar was awarded the Line Run Driver of the Year for 2006. Eugene Parmenter was awarded the Tour/Charter Department Driver of the Year for 2006; and Curt Clossen was awarded Employee of theYear for 2006. The recipients for the 2006 are pictured below with the award presenters. Awards were presented to drivers who had completed the year 2006, accident free. To qualify for an award, each driver needed to drive a minimum of 20,000 miles, accident free. Receiving one year awards were: Harvey Barnhart, Lynn Miller, Eugene Parmenter, Ed Saar, William Schaffer, and William Shearer. Receiving three year awards were: Steve Brink, Kenny Gentile and Gary Watson. Receiving an award for five years was Vince Chiglinsky and John Fardella. Jay Brinker and Lou Plankenhorn received six year awards. James Klemanski received the award for nine years, with Ted Fanning and Sidney Gass receiving for eleven years. Receiving fourteen year awards were: James Hiney and Phil Yothers. |

Our motorcoaches are maintained and serviced by our own mechanics and technicians in one of our three maintenance facility locations. Our head technicians have 100 years of combined shop experience between the four of them. Working with these technicians are eight -class 1 and 2 -mechanics with 80 combined years of shop experience.
Our driver training and safety program, along with our extensive equipment maintenance and inspection program, assure you of the safest and most dependable level of service possible.
Susquehanna Trailways currently has the highest safety ratings possible from the Federal Department of Transportation and the Pennsylvania PUC Motor Carrier Enforcement Division. We are also an approved carrier for the Department of Defense by the Military Traffic Management Command. To obtain and keep this approval, a motor carrier has to go through extensive inspections and audits on a regular basis.
